The memorial evening of outstanding artist Svetoslav Rerich "How I became an artist",  dedicated to the 20th anniversary of his death, was held on February 27, 2013 at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Israel in the city of Bat Yam.

At the beginning of the event the director of the Israeli branch of “Odessa Institute of Culture League and the Social community" Olga Leonova made a presentation about Rerichs family and their contribution to the treasury of world science and art.

Tatiana Slonimska, chief editor of the journal "Culture League", devoted her report to the ties between S.Rerich and Ukraine.

During the evening documentary film "Younger son" by L.Telezhko and H.Pluhatyreva about Svetoslav Rerih and the tragic events that occurred in the last period of his life was shown.

Also, visitors were able to observe reproductions of Nikolay Rerich’s and Svetoslav Rerich’s works.

The event was held on the initiative of the public Institute of Culture League and Social community. The Institute began working in 2003 at the Odessa N.Rerich Museum. Since November 2011 the branch of the institute has functioned in Israel.
