The solemn evening dedicated to the Holocaust Day was held on March 28, 2013 at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Israel.
During the event Ala Reider, author of "The Jewish community in Transcarpathia. Twentieth century", told the audience about the tragedy of the Holocaust. She noted that in Europe after World War II there are a huge number of places where Jews were tortured. At the same time A.Reider stressed that particularly in Transcarpathia many Ukrainians risked their lives to save Jews.
The representative of the Embassy of Ukraine noted that the Ukrainian people share and understand the pain of the Jewish people. It is in Ukraine the goriest punitive action of World War II in Europe for the destruction of both the civilian population and the settlement by the Nazis was carried out. Koryukivka tragedy of March 1-2, 1943 is a crime in which about 7,000 people of all ages - from infants to the frail elderly - were killed and burned.
Also during the event songs in Ukrainian, Hebrew, Russian and Yiddish were performed by ensemble "Inspiration" of clubs "Mazl tov" and "Na ogoniok" from Bat Yam led by Innesa Eliseev.
