Honoring the memory of tragedy of Babi Yar

On October 2, 2013 the memorial event dedicated to 72th anniversary of the Nazi extermination of Jews and other nationalities in Ukraine took place in Rishon le-Zion. The evening was organized by Israeli association of immigrants from Ukraine. The event was attended by a representative of the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel, local authorities, journalists and Ukrainian community.
Speakers noted that the tragedy of Babi Yar is a huge tragedy for the Jewish people, for Ukraine and for all humanity. It was stressed that after independence Ukraine has been done a lot to honor the memory of thousands of innocent victims of fascism. All speakers emphasized the importance to save the memory of the tragic events of Babi Yar in order to avoid recurrence of similar disasters in the future.
