This day was set in 1951 by the Knesset to commemorate the six million Jews exterminated by the Nazis during the Second World War.
On April 28, 2014 the ceremony of remembrance of the Holocaust victims took place at the memorial to those who died during the Second World War at the town cemetery of Ashdod. The event was attended by Minister of Immigrant Absorption Sofa Landver, a diplomat of the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel, local officials and representatives of veterans’ organizations.
All speakers focused their attention on the need to save the memory of the Holocaust terrible events, to the Catastrophe will never happen again.
After the ceremony, the participants laid flowers at the memorial to the Jews - victims of the Second World War.
