President paid tribute to Heroes-liquidators of Chornobyl tragedy: Ukraine still bears the main burden of Crornobyl disaster. The Head of State has honored the memory of Chornobyl Heroes laying flowers to the monument near the administrative building of the station. "29 years ago, Ukrainian firemen defended humanity," the President said.
"Today, we continue to bear the main burden of Chornobyl tragedy. Its tragic consequences will not leave us for many years," the Head of State emphasized.
The President has thanked the team involved in building the safe confinement. "Ukrainians, Frenchmen, Englishmen, Azerbaijanis and Turks demonstrate their abilities to work here. But the majority of them are Ukrainians who make everything possible to ensure timely protection of environment from nuclear threats. The quality and organization of work assure us that everything will be done well," Petro Poroshenko said.
According to the President, in recent years, not a single person obtained the new status of liquidator. "Care for security and health of people is the top priority," the Head of State noted.
The President examined the object "Shelter" and the Zone of installing a new safe confinement over the 4th emergency unit.
The event was also attended by the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Vitaliy Kovalchuk, Kyiv RSA Head Volodymyr Shandra, Government members and people's deputies.
CEO of the State Specialized Enterprise "CNPP" Ihor Gramotkin has informed the President on the main phases of building the confinement held by the French consortium Novarka for the funds provided by 28 states-donors under the administration of the EBRD.
