On January 25-26, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the State of Israel Hennadii Nadolenko took part in the commemorating events dedicated to the memory of Holocaust victims.
The ceremonies on the eve of the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust were held at the memorial complex “Yad Vashem” and in the International Institute of Holocaust Studies “Massuah”.
On January 27, Ukraine together with the international community commemorates the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This date was designated by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 60/7 on 1 November 2005. On 27 January 1945, Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration and death camp, was liberated by the 1st Ukrainian Front.
The memory of the tragedy of the Holocaust is a part today of the national memory of the Ukrainian people.
