On November 1, 2018, an international action "Light a candle of remembrance!" was held in Israel.
Within the framework was served a divine liturgy to honour the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine. The liturgy service was held at the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Greek Catholic Church in Tel Aviv.
In course of the event, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the State of Israel Hennadii Nadolenko drew the attention of those present to the consequences of the Holodomor in Ukraine in 1932-1933 and emphasized the need to preserve the memory about this terrible crime of the Stalinist regime.
H.Nadolenko stressed the importance of community support for recognition by Israel of Holodomor 1932-1933 as genocide against the Ukrainian people.
This year the tribute "Light a candle of remembrance!" is devoted to the memory of children. The participants read out the names of 85 children starved to death from among millions of Holodomor victims and honored the memory of the dead by lighting candles.
The event was attended by representatives of the community, immigrants from Ukraine in Israel and Ukrainian diplomats.
