On August 29, 2019, the Embassy of Ukraine in the State of Israel held an official reception on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence.
Ambassador of Ukraine to the State of Israel Hennadii Nadolenko congratulated the guests and thanked the State of Israel for its unchanged position in support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to all present at the reception for the many years of fruitful activity in the name of development and strengthening of Ukrainian-Israeli relations and cooperation.
In his speech, the Ambassador noted that the Decree of the President of Ukraine established 29thof August as the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The audience paid honour by holding a minute of silence in remembrance of the heroes who died while defending their homeland.
The Minister of Science and Technology of the State of Israel Ofir Akunis, also addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.
The Minister stressed that there have been close historical ties between Ukraine and Israel and that these ties continue to be strengthened in all areas of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Minister also underlined the important contribution of immigrants from Ukraine in the development and building of the State of Israel.
The event was held in a festive atmosphere, with many Ukrainian songs and warm greetings from the guests.
