On December 3-4, a Ukrainian delegation headed by the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine T. Kachka paid a working visit to Israel. The delegation included Deputy Head of the Office of the President I. Baydachnyi, Deputy Minister for Community and Territorial Development A. Rybchenko, and representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

During the visit, the 13th session of the Joint Ukrainian-Israeli Commission was held, co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka and Minister of Finance Ministry of the State of Israel Zeev Elkin. The state and prospects of cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, the agricultural sector, energy, healthcare, digitalization, the environment, and veterans' policy were discussed.

Following the meeting, the parties, in particular, agreed to:

- resume dialogue on veterinary and phytosanitary issues;

- strengthen cooperation in the field of energy sustainability and cyber defense;

- continue partnership in the field of emergency medicine, psychological support and rehabilitation, as well as develop exchange between medical institutions and specialists;

- begin cooperation on ensuring the continuity of digital public services in emergency conditions;

- develop new formats of cooperation on rehabilitation and social integration of veterans, etc.

In continuation, the delegation held bilateral meetings with the President of the State of Israel Isaac Herzog, Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Saar, Minister of Agriculture Avi Dichter, Minister of Economy Nir Barkat.

During the visit, the head and members of the Ukrainian delegation took part in the ceremonial opening of the first monument in Israel to the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933.

Representatives of the Jerusalem City Hall, the Israeli Foreign Ministry, the Knesset, the Ukrainian community, and ambassadors of foreign states took part in the ceremonial opening.

The initiative was implemented on behalf of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the support of the Temerty Foundation, the Jerusalem City Hall, the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel, the Scientific and Educational Consortium for the Study of the Holodomor, and the Ukrainian World Congress.

The monument, which was installed in the central part of Jerusalem in the Wohl Rose Garden park, was created by artists Lyudmila Temertey and David Robinson and is dedicated to the millions of victims of the Holodomor, a genocide by famine committed by the communist Soviet regime against the people of Ukraine in 1932-33. The raised hand in front of the broken millstone symbolizes the overwhelming burden of memory and a deep faith in renewal and healing. In the hand are five stalks of grain, reminiscent of the cruel Kremlin law, according to which the storage of any amount of the harvest was punishable by death.
