President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held negotiations with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.
"Ukraine is interested in the assistance of Israel in the implementation of reforms in our country and enhancement of economic cooperation between the two countries," the President said before the beginning of the meeting.
According to the Head of State, the enhancement of economic cooperation should facilitate the conclusion of the Agreement on Free Trade Area.
Ukraine is interested in the enhancement of cooperation in the high-tech sphere. Also, Petro Poroshenko noted the necessity of improving interpersonal contacts and creation of comfortable conditions for the communication of people. In this context, the Head of State also noted the necessity of intensification of cooperation in the sphere of interstate air connection.
In his turn, Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu noted close relations between the two countries and contribution of hundred thousands of Ukrainians to the development of Israel.
In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed the ways to intensify bilateral trade and economic cooperation, particularly in agricultural, transport, construction and investment spheres.
The parties expressed hope for the prompt signature of the Agreement on Free Trade Area between Ukraine and Israel that will allow significant increase of trade and economic interaction between the two countries.
Following the negotiations, a series of bilateral documents were signed, particularly in scientific, technical, educational, cultural and infrastructural spheres.
In addition, the parties agreed to hold the session of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Israeli Commission on Economic Cooperation in the first half of 2016.
In the course of the conversation, Petro Poroshenko invited Benjamin Netanyahu to make a visit to Ukraine in 2016 and take part in the events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Babi Yar tragedy.
The Head of State thanked the Prime Minister of Israel for humanitarian and medical assistance provided by Israel to Ukraine.
