In the framework of the state visit to Israel, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with Chairman of the Knesset Yuli-Yoel Edelstein. The parties praised the level of friendly partnership between Ukraine and Israel.
In the course of the visit, the President noted the fact that many prominent Israeli figures had Ukrainian origins. In his turn, the Chairman of the Knesset noted: “We see how your country changes carrying out reforms and using the “window of opportunities”.
The parties discussed the ways to strengthen the legislative basis for cooperation between the countries, inter alia, its trade-economic component. Special attention was paid to the security situation in the Middle East and the threatening developments caused by Russian aggression in Donbas and Crimea.
In addition, the parties noted the efficient work of the Interparliamentary Groups of Friendship of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Knesset of the State of Israel and their significant contribution to the development of bilateral interparliamentary cooperation.
The President informed on the preparations to the 75th anniversary of the Babi Yar tragedy and invited the representatives of the Knesset to take part in the commemoration.
