On September 27, 2017, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the State of Israel Gennadii Nadalenko took part in the ceremony devoted to the 76th anniversary of the extermination of Jews by the Nazis in Babyn Yar and other regions of Ukraine.
Ambassador G.Nadolenko honored Holocaust victims by laying flowers to the fire of memory at the memorial complex Yad Vashem in Jerusalem and gave a speech at the memorial event.
"The Babyn Yar tragedy is a sad symbol of the terrible years of the Holocaust in Ukraine. The memory of Babyn Yar and Holocaust crimes are an integral part of the national memory of the Ukrainian nation", - said G. Nadolenko.

According to official figures during 1941-1943 more than 100 thousand people perished in Babyn Yar, almost 34 thousand Jews were shot dead only in two days in September 29-30, 1941.
At the ceremony took part the Minister Aliyah and Integration Sofa Landver, the press secretary of the Jewish Agency (Sohnut) David Shechter, the Director of the International Relations Department Yad Vashem Shaya Ben Yehuda, the Head of the Association of Ukrainian Immigrants in Israel David Levin and the representatives of civil society.
