On April 16th and 17th 2021, the first Ukrainian-Israeli friendly tennis tournament was held in the State of Israel. The event was attended by diplomats from foreign missions and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israeli officials, business representatives of the two countries and the media.
Opening the official ceremony of the competition, Ambassador of Ukraine to the State of Israel Yevgen Korniychuk emphasized that the purpose of the event is to strengthen the bilateral diplomatic and business partnership. He further placed importance on the vision of sports and culture cooperation between the two countries and also accentuated their international ties and contacts.
The two-day competitions were held in two categories - singles and doubles.
The winner's cup was awarded to Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the State of Israel Eric Ullehag. During the award ceremony, the Ambassador of Sweden expressed gratitude to the organisers of the event and noted that Sweden and Ukraine are united not only by the colours of their national flags, but also by close friendly relations. Eric Ullehag reasserted Sweden’s support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Second place in the tournament was won by the representative of the State of Israel Avi Lahyani and third by the representative of Ukraine Maksym Kravtsov.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in the State of Israel together with ALISA Wonderland charity foundation, founder - Alisa Tsudic, the Global Israeli Initiative, founder – Alyona Novgorodskaya, Simple Investment, founder - Igal Yoffe, with the support of partners and sponsors.
